Drake thanked Fabolous for shaping and influencing his career.
In many respects, Fabolous is a rapper’s rapper. There’s really no denying how influential he was to the game, even though he’s a long way from the commercial heights he previously attained. At one point in time, Fab had the game under control thanks to his wit, swag, and laid-back attitude.
Over the weekend, Drake posted a homage to Fab on Instagram, crediting the Brooklyn rapper with helping to shape his look and sound. The rapper declared that he “wouldn’t be anywhere without this guy” after sharing two flashback photos of Fab from the early 2000s.
In his tweet, Drizzy said, “Real shit @myfabolouslife was really just taking in how much you effected everything for me.”
Drake hasn’t been afraid to acknowledge Fab’s impact on him in the past either. Drake dressed as Fab for a 2018 birthday celebration, with a blue Kobe Bryant LA Lakers jersey, a matching fitting cap, and a bandana wrapped on top.
Previously, the two collaborated on the remix of “Throw It In The Bag).” However, with the publication of a Drake interview by Rolling Stone in 2014, there was conjecture that there was discord between them. Drake seemed to criticize Fab while talking about Ye’s divisive Yeezus album.
In the interview, Drake claims that “there were some really problematic bars on there.” “How about that Swag-hili line? Man up, man up. Even Fabolous wouldn’t utter such a thing.
The Brooklyn rapper swiftly, though, attributed it to sensational media. He claimed that after the event, he got into it with Drake, who later expressed regret for bringing up his name during the interview.
It’s done. The bridge is where it is. We go from there since Drake has personally told me that I greatly respect what he does.
If Fab reacts to Drake’s shout out, we’ll let you know.
